WEB EXTRA – New RI Blood Center Location

The Rhode Island Blood Center is moving its Warwick facility to higher ground. Flooded with some four-feet of water in the floods of last Spring, the Warwick Donor Center was forced to close and move temporarily to the Crowne Plaza, before moving back to its old facility off Bald Hill Road.

Because of the temporary moves blood donations at the Warwick Center dropped, creating additional challenges for the Blood Center to meet its daily needs of collecting 280 pints of blood.

By moving to a new facility, not only does the Blood Center insure against any future flooding issues, but has also modernized the facility, making it more comfortable for all types of donors.

The Center opens on Tuesdays from 10 a.m., and is open until 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warwick Donor Center is generally open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The new center is located next to Sleepy's in the Shops at Greenwood Plaza, 615 Greenwich Ave., Warwick.
