Weekend cooldown, rain returns
PROVIDENCE, RI — I hope you enjoyed the summer preview, because we come back down to earth for the foreseeable future.
Friday saw another near-90 degree day, with new record high temperatures for both Providence and New Bedford.
Clouds will begin to move in from the south overnight as cooler air creeps in as well. Highs Saturday will struggle to reach 70 degrees.
Tropical-style downpours will begin moving in after lunchtime, turning a bit more numerous towards the evening -with some embedded thunderstorms.
These continue through Sunday morning, with drier conditions for the second half of the day. We will complete the cooldown with highs only around 60 degrees.
Looking ahead to Monday, the Boston Marathon will feature great running temperatures but also occasional showers.
Have a great weekend!
