West Greenwich brush fire closes in on 200 acres
WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee said Thursday that one of the largest brush fires in the state’s history was closing in on 200 acres.
McKee met with first responders in West Greenwich and expressed his gratitude in their work to contain the massive fire.
Crews were called to the brush fire on Wednesday afternoon amid a fire warning during this week’s dry and warm weather.
Fire agencies from several neighboring communities have been on it for days, checking for hotspots.
First responders expect a whole day of tackling remaining hotspots on Friday.
