West Warwick firefighter’s Memorial Park vandalized

WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating a vandalism incident that occurred over the weekend at memorial park on Cowesett Avenue.

“The West Warwick Fire Fighters are heartbroken at the senseless vandalism visited upon our Memorial Park at Station 4, on Cowesett Ave., on March 16, 2019,” the fire department wrote on  their Facebook. “Rest assured we are working with the West Warwick Police to make sure that any the individual(s) will be held responsible.”

Police have determined that a vehicle struck the memorial causing the damage.

Officers were able to locate vehicle parts on scene as well as silver transfer paint.

The vehicle parts were traced to back to a silver Nissan Murano.

Damages include a stone bench knocked over as well as a large memorial pillar. Damage to the path and memorial bricks were also apart of the vandalism.

The investigation is still on-going at this time
