Westerly Police investigating hit-and-run involving bicyclist

WESTERLY, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist Saturday night in Westerly.

Westerly Police responded to the area of the National Grid Transfer Station on Canal Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday for reports of an accident involving a bicyclist.

Police said a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle that did not remain on the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries sustained in the crash.

Westerly Police said the suspect vehicle involved in the crash may be a 1990s Ford truck or SUV with passenger side front end damage and possibly missing a passenger side mirror.

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact Westerly Police at 401-348-6131. The incident is under investigation.
