PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Today Lifespan implemented new, temporary visitation guidelines at Lifespan Hospitals.

Faith leaders are able to visit a member of their faith group who is near end of life. Upon arrival, faith leaders need to confirm the patient is near end of life with the medical and/or nursing personnel of the treatment team caring for the patient.

The best way for a religious leader to obtain this confirmation is to contact the Lifespan Spiritual Care Department at 401-444-4304 between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm.

Lifespan has announced that their team of staff chaplains will provide any assistance during this difficult time.

At this time, adult inpatients will not be allowed visitors. Pediatric patients are allowed only one parent or guardian at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Bradley Hospital. Women in labor are allowed only the designated birthing partner to accompany them in labor at Newport Hospital. Emergency departments will only allow one adult to accompany patients arriving at an emergency department and the person’s duration of stay in patient areas will be limited.
