PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A week after the “Cooler and Warmer” slogan has both come and gone, the question remains, over what is next for Rhode Island’s tourism campaign.

The details are still in the works, but the governor insists Rhode Islanders will be involved in coming up with the slogan this time around. “They have energy, they have passion, they love Rhode Island, so we have to figure out how to tap into that to put it into the campaign to make the campaign even better and stronger,” she told ABC6 News.

Raimondo axed the tourism slogan on Friday and encouraged locals to keep the conversation going on alternatives. After days of updates on social media, neither the governor’s nor the Commerce Corporation’s social media pages had any news about what’s next as of Tuesday night, making some locals feel wary. “Maybe they’re trying to figure it out internally the best way to rebound from it so they don’t make the same mistake twice,” pondered Shannon Hayle of Coventry. “I think a lot of people have a lot of opinions and a lot of good things to offer and they could definitely turn it positive from here on out."

Officials have been figuring out different ways to get everyone involved, according to the governor; it’s just taking some time. "It’s an evolving process, it’s brand new, so we’re going to let it out there and let Rhode Islanders make it their own,” Raimondo said.

Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor sent a statement, saying in part: We are learning from the mistakes we made and fixing them to get this right for the people of Rhode Island…We will share more details soon.”
