Wind chill watch Friday and Saturday
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — High pressure is building in with a clear, dry, seasonally cold air mass. We’ll have typical early February weather through tomorrow night.
A WIND CHILL WATCH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FRIDAY THROUGH MIDDAY SATURDAY. Wind chill will go as low as 30 below zero Friday night.
As high pressure builds in, we’ll enjoy dry weather Wednesday and Thursday before the arctic air arrives Friday morning with a cold front moving through close to sunrise.
This ARCTIC BLAST of dangerous cold will visit us Friday through Sunday morning. Wind chill and air temperatures will reach sub-zero Friday night and Saturday morning. This brief shift in the jet stream (upper wind pattern)is similar to what we saw in late December when we fell into the single numbers in Southern New England.
These are the forecasted wind chill (feel-like) temperatures Friday evening. These numbers do not reflect gusts in the wind, only sustained wind speed and the resultant wind chill. Nonetheless, brutal!
Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) is visible now as it makes it’s closest approach to earth this week. Photo by Gilbrt Plumer of Florida is a stack of ten taken over the course of about 6 minutes. More comet photos can be found at spaceweather.com.
Catch it in the northeast sky near the little dipper before it’s gone!
