Woman, 67, killed in head-on crash in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — A 67-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash in Cumberland Monday night, according to authorities.

The two-car crash happened on Mendon Road.

Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson said the driver the car entered the wrong lane of travel after suffering a medical episode.

The 67-year-old, who was a passenger in that car, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. She later died at the hospital.

Benson said the driver of that car and passengers in the other vehicle — two adults and two children, were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

No further information was made available.
