WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A woman is accused of driving drunk after crashing into a West Warwick home on Thursday night.

Police said the 56-year-old woman crashed into a multi-family house at about 7:30 p.m. on Providence Street.

First responders extricated the woman from her car, which was heavily damaged after landing upside down.

She was charged with DUI — first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

While her name was not released, police said she is a West Warwick resident.

She was sent to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Police said the home was deemed uninhabitable from the damage. The families are being assisted with temporary housing arrangements.

A neighbor told an ABC 6 News crew on scene that they’ve seen some crashes along the street but never one as serious.

The investigation is ongoing.
