Woman arrested after crashing car into a tree; car reported stolen

RICHMOND, R.I (WLNE) – A North Providence woman was arrested over the weekend for DUI and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Richmond police arrived at KG Ranch Road at 3:40 PM on Sunday after a caller reported a vehicle had struck a tree.

Officers found the vehicle stopped on the front lawn of a person’s home, with 34-year-old Emilia Martinelli in the driver’s seat.

Martinelli was arrested on suspicion of DUI based on her performance on a sobriety test.

Police also learned the vehicle she was driving was reported stolen to the North Providence Police Department on February 20th.

Martinelli was arraigned and ordered held without bail.

She is set to reappear in court on April 16th.
