A Cranston woman was arrested for driving under the influence and hitting a marked police cruiser head-on.

Police say 33-year-old Amy Drumm was driving on Crescent Avenue, where she lives, just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

An officer tried avoiding Drumm once he spotted her driving towards him from the opposite direction, but it was too late and his cruiser was struck.

Drumm failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody. She was charged with DUI and refusal to submit a chemical test. She will appear in Third District Court in Warwick on February 12th.

The officer has only minor injuries and Drumm was not injured.

This is the third marked Cranston Police cruiser to be struck by an alleged drunk driver in the past few months.
