Woman arrested on DUI charges; driving four times over legal limit

TIVERTON, R.I. – A woman was arrested on several DUI charges after crashing into a utility pole Sunday night.

Officials say the operator, identified as Colleen Mcaulay, crashed into a utility pole on East Road, causing it to snap around 7:00 p.m.

Mcaulay refused medical attention, but did submit to field sobriety testing where her preliminary test resulted a reading of .346; more than four times the legal limit.

Officers say Mcaulay refused to take any further testing after failing the initial test.

Mcaulay was taken to police headquarters where she refused to take a chemical test as well.

Mcaulay was charged with the following:

  • DUI/drugs/alcohol/1st offense- B.A.C. unknown.
  • Traffic offenses including refusal to submit to a chemical test.
  • Laned roadway violation.
  • Failure to maintain proper control of vehicle.
