Woman charged with assaulting veteran, Trump supporter
UXBRIDGE, Mass. (WLNE) – A Massachusetts woman has been arrested and charged with assaulting a Vietnam veteran on Saturday.
The alleged incident started over the 73-year-old veteran holding a sign in support of President Donald Trump.
Kiara Dudley, 34, of Douglas, Mass., was in Uxbridge district court Monday morning where she told the judge she was the victim in the case, because the man had attacked her first.
According to a police report, Dudley began to berate the veteran with insults before body checking him and stepping on his “Veterans for Trump” sign.
As he went to bent over to pick it up, Dudley knocked the 73-year-old to the ground causing injury to his finger.
Douglas police say that Dudley was part of a group that berated a couple supporting the president at an intersection in town.
When instructed by the judge to stay away from the elderly man, Dudley responded “that’s no problem, I don’t want him to assault me again.”
Dudley was charged with assault and battery on an elderly person causing injury.
She was released on $250 cash bail and is due back in court on Nov. 20.
