Woman faces multiple impaired driving charges in crash that critically injured 2-year-old

(WLNE) — A Woonsocket woman is facing multiple impaired driving charges in connection to a head-on crash that critically injured a 2-year-old boy.
Prosecutors said Monday that 22-year-old Erika Ahrens was charged in Providence County Superior Court with one count of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of driving to endanger resulting in physical injury, two counts of cruelty/neglect of a child, and one count of driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle.
Ahrens is accused of driving impaired in a two-car crash at the intersection of Diamond Hill and Mendon roads in October that hurt a 1-year-old boy and critically injured a 2-year-old boy.
The investigation is ongoing by authorities and the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
Ahrens is due back in court on June 15.
