A woman is in serious condition tonight after a single car crash in Cranston.

Police say the 66-year-old was driving on Scituate Avenue just before 4 p.m. when she struck a pole, flipping the vehicle.

She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to her lower extremities. Police believe she suffered a medical episode, and drugs and alcohol were not a factor.

Five houses lost power in the area after the crash, and National Grid crews are currently working to replace the pole.
