NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WLNE) – A woman says she was walking down Great Island Road in Galilee Sunday night when another woman came up to her and coughed in her face.

That woman, Nicole Desbiens, says she tried to move out of the way of the woman walking toward her for social distancing.

“She continued to follow me until the point where she was so close that I had to walk into the road to avoid her,” said Desbiens Monday. “She deliberately coughed right in my face, like very aggressively.”

Afterward, Desbiens says she stood looking in horror as the older woman walked by her.

“As she was walking away she started laughing. And she was like, ‘I hope you get coronavirus, I hope you die,'” recalled Desbiens.

Desbiens tells ABC 6 she wishes she had her camera out. Once she saw the woman cough on others on the sidewalk, she called the police.

“I felt kind of a little bit assaulted and I was just not okay with the situation,” she said.

Desbiens described the woman as in her 70s, long white hair, wearing a black dress and a tan bag.

Police tell ABC 6 they were unable to find the woman or anyone involved in the incident once they arrived on scene, nor anyone who saw it happen.
