Woman seeks help after her date drove car into Providence water after an argument
ABC 6 News reached out to "Plenty of Fish" for comment but have not heard back.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A woman sent to the hospital over the weekend after being driven into the Seekonk River told police she was on a date with the man driving the car, according to documents obtained by ABC 6 News.
The name of the man involved in the incident was redacted on the police report, but it said that he is a Providence resident. Providence police are still searching for the man involved.
The popular dating app the two met on is called “Plenty of Fish.” ABC 6 News reached out to the popular dating app for comment but have not heard back.
The website for the dating service has a page on how to “date safely,” including reminders on meeting in public places, reporting any suspicious or dangerous activities with someone you meet on the app, and always telling friends if you are meeting someone from the app.
ABC 6 spoke with residents in the area who said while this incident is concerning, it does not change their mind on spending time in the nearby parks and water areas that are usually, always safe.
