PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WLNE) – A Catholic school in Pawtucket has closed after 48 years, citing declining student enrollment numbers.
Woodlawn Catholic Regional School’s Board of Directors announced Friday that the school will not open for the 2019-2020 school year.
President Roger Theroux cited low student enrollment projections as a basis for the decision to close the school.
“We thank everyone involved who has allowed this school to thrive and provide a loving, safe environment with rigorous educational standards that exceed state requirements and position graduates for success in high school and beyond,” said Theroux in a statement.
Woodlawn Catholic Regional School was founded in 1972, offering enrollment for Pre-K through Eighth Grade students.
