Woonsocket invites the public to new WWII memorial unveiling
WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Woonsocket Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced Thursday that a new memorial will be dedicated next week to World War II heroes who never returned home.
Baldelli-Hunt said the new memorial will be unveiled on Victory Day at World War II Veterans Memorial Park.
According to the city, the memorial will honor military heroes who died in the line of duty and are buries overseas.
The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.
The mayor further thanked the United Veterans Council of Woonsocket in researching the names of the city’s WWII soldiers who never made it home.
