Woonsocket man found guilty in 2021 murder of 21-year-old
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office said Friday that a Woonsocket man was found guilty of murdering a 21-year-old man in Providence back in 2021.
Earlier this week, Adauris Garcia was found guilty of second-degree murder, discharge of a firearm resulting in death, and carrying a pistol without a license.
On April 11, 2021, police said Garcia, who’s now 21 years old, shot and killed Isaias Bulus after a drug transaction on Atlantic Avenue in Providence.
Attorney General Peter Neronha said Garcia entered Bulus’ car and pulled a gun out. After they both struggled for possession of the weapon, the suspect shot the victim in the back.
Police said a neighbor found Bulus dead four hours later in the car. The passenger side door was open and the victim was found laying across the seats.
Currently, Garcia is being held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
He’s scheduled to face a Providence Superior Court judge at a later date for a sentencing hearing.
