Woonsocket Police Cop’s Walk to D.C.

By: Melissa Randall

Local police officers are walking from Rhode Island to Washington D.C. ahead of National Police Week. Nearly a dozen members of the Woonsocket Police Department left Rhode Island on Saturday.

Over the next few days the group will call the road home. The around the clock relay to raise awareness to the sacrifices make by officers is called ‘Cops Walk’.

The team sent ABC6 News back several photos Sunday from New York. The officers have raised more than 100–thousand dollars since 2001 to help surviving family members.
