Woonsocket police identify elderly woman killed in serious crash

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE)- A woman died after a serious crash in Woonsocket Friday.

Woonsocket Deputy Police Chief Michael Lemoine identified the woman as 72-year-old Irene Gaulin.

The crash happened near Harris Avenue Friday afternoon when the couples sedan collided with a truck.

Lemoine said the couple sustained serious injuries and were both rushed to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

The driver, Gaulin’s husband, is in stable condition, according to Lemoine.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
