Woonsocket police investigating deadly hit and run that left one woman dead

WOONSOCKET, RI (WLNE) -Police in Woonsocket are investigating a deadly hit and run that left one woman dead.

Police Chief Thomas Oates says the woman was struck and killed by a car in the parking lot of the Walnut Hill  apartment complex on Diamond Hill Road around 5:30 p.m Saturday.

Police identified the victim as a 41-year-old woman who lived at the complex. Police said she was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Her name has not yet been released.

Oates said the male suspect fled the scene but was arrested in Pawtucket several hours later.

He said investigators believe the incident was domestic and the victim and suspect were in a relationship
