Yarmouth police seek a man who tried to entice a juvenile in to a van

YARMOUTH, MASS (WLNE) – Police responded to a home in West Yarmouth for a juvenile who was reporting he was almost kidnapped on Saturday May 18th, 2019. 

Police meet with reporting parties who said that the juvenile showed up at their door, out of breath, saying that a man had just tried to kidnap him at the parking lot of Dollar General. 

Fortunately the juvenile was not injured and did not require medical care, according to the police. 

The department the initial investigation indicates that after buying at item in the store, the juvenile left the building and noticed an older male waiting by the exit. 

The male said he had candy for him in his van, then he extended his arm to try and guide the juvenile to his nearby parked van with its sliding door already open. 

Patrol officers went to the store location and reviewed the surveillance video which showed a man fitting the description that was described to them. 

Yarmouth Police Department Detectives took over the investigation, with technical support from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit.

The Yarmouth Police department is asking for the public to help in locating the suspect in the released images. 

The Suspect is described as: 

  • Male
  • Age 40-50
  • Shaved Head
  • Close, dark beard with spots of silver/white
  • White shirt
  • Green shorts
  • Tan mini-van
