UPDATE: A member of the Coast Guard is in custody after being accused of shooting two female Coast Guard members and a police officer in Bourne.

That shooter, 31-year-old Adrian Loya of Virginia, was arraigned Thursday on charges including murder, armed assault, home invasion, burglary armed assault, arson of motor vehicle, and assault and battery of a police officer. He is being held without bail until his pre-trial hearing in March.

One of the women, who was stationed locally, has died. No word on other woman’s condition.

The officer had surgery at Rhode Island Hospital and is expected to be okay.

The incident happened at a residential complex on Round House Road in Bourne.

The officer was airlifted from the scene and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

State Police say Troopers from the State Police Detective Unit for the Cape and Islands will lead the investigation along with the district attorney for that county. The State Police Bomb Squad is on-scene to examine, and, if necessary, render safe, items — suspected of being hoax devices — allegedly placed near the crime scene by the suspect.

In addition Crime Scene Services, the Air Wing, the K9 Section and patrols from the Bourne Barracks were all on scene.

The initial calls about the incident came in to police at approximately 2:15 a.m.
