1 dead from ammonia leak at Boston warehouse

By News Staff
One adult male has died as the result of an ammonia leak in Boston’s Seaport District.
Emergency crews responded to Stavis Seafoods Warehouse at 7 Channel St. around 5:55 pm Wednesday for what they’ve declared a Level 3 Hazmat, meaning all firefighters entering the building must be in a fully-encapsulated suit with oxygen.
Boston Fire said firefighters were not immediately able to enter the area where the ammonia shutoff was.
They also said that if two firefighters enter the building, two others must remain outside in equal numbers to be ready to enter immediately.
