1 injured, 29 displaced in violent fire that destroyed two homes in Boston

BOSTON (WLNE) — One person was injured and 29 are displaced from their homes after a fire destroyed two multi-family apartment buildings in Boston.

On Saturday, the Boston Fire Department said the fire broke out on the back side of 21 Ellington St. At around 4 p.m., crews shared video of fire spreading through all three floors of the home.

All firefighters were evacuated from the building as the fire spread to a neighboring home and black smoke started pluming from inside.

By the end of the night, crews were chasing hot spots and transported one resident to the hospital for injuries. The condition of the injured person was not immediately known.

The Red Cross is now assisting the 29 people displaced.
