Lots of cars have them – keyless entries are without a doubt convenient.
But now, a team of security experts say they’ve figured out how to use remote entry to hack other people’s vehicles, essentially cloning the key, unlocking the car, and taking off.
What’s worse, is about one hundred million Volkswagens made in the past 21 years are at risk.
The news had some Volkswagen owners scratching their heads.
Trevor Valenti says he’s not exactly worried someone would steal his car, but wouldn’t be surprised if it happened.
“You can hack into anything nowadays it’s bound to happen.”
The researchers that made the discovery are presenting their findings at a security conference Friday.
They say the potential for a hack could also target other brands including Chevrolet.
