Police arrest two on heroin trafficking charges

Police seized $10,000 worth of heroin Saturday after stopping a black Hyundai Sonata they say brought heroin into New Bedford from New York.
Police stopped Porfirio Garrastazu, 27, along with Alejandro Colon, 29, at the corner of Penniman and County Streets Saturday afternoon around 4:30 PM. The black Hyundai Sonata contained 55 grams of heroin.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for a hotel room at the Regency Inn on Faunce Corner road. 55 grams of additional heroin was discovered in the hotel room along with $648 in cash.
Both men are being arraigned Monday morning in New Bedford on trafficking heroin and conspiracy charges.
