12-year-old stabbed in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The East Providence Police Department said a 12-year-old was stabbed on Friday night.

Police said the stabbing occurred after an “altercation” at the basketball courts near the Central Avenue playground.

The victim was stabbed in the upper leg and was transported to the hospital in “stable” condition.

Police are still searching for a suspect.
