130 MPH Route 24 chase ends in Taunton crash

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — An early morning high-speed chase on Route 24 south ended in a Taunton crash and the hospitalization of the fleeing vehicle’s five occupants, according to Massachusetts State Police.
According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, a trooper observed a white BMW X5 driving south on Route 24 in excess of 100 MPH.
The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, and the driver allegedly refused to comply and accelerated down Route 24.
The BMW reached speeds of approximately 130 MPH before crashing in Taunton.
Responding troopers alerted EMS personnel and gave first aid to the BMW’s five occupants.
The occupants were transported to local hospitals by EMS in stable condition.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
