NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) – New Bedford police announced Tuesday they have arrested a juvenile on gun charges.

Authorities say they received information on August 13 about a young boy being in possession of a .22 caliber handgun in the area of Temple Landing. When the 14-year-old was seen at the intersection of Chancery St. and Middle St., detectives stopped him.

A .22 caliber pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition was found in the cross-body bag the boy was wearing. The gun had been stolen from Rochester.

The boy was taken into custody.
