14-year-old suffers life-threatening injuries after crash in dispensary parking lot
CHELSEA, Mass. (WLNE) — Chelsea police and Massachusetts State Police said they’re investigating a crash that caused life-threatening injuries to a 14-year-old pedestrian on Sunday.
According to officials, the crash happened around 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the RISE Cannabis Dispensary on Beacham Street.
Preliminary investigation determined that a 2020 Mercedes Benz sedan, driven by Ceserino Borelli, 44, of Watertown, was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Beacham Street.
Authorities said evidence indicates that Borelli exited the roadway into the Dunkin’ parking lot at 276 Beacham Street, causing damage to the property, then driving through a metal fence that surrounded the RISE parking lot.
Officials said Borelli went through the fence, crashed into a parked and occupied Mercedes SUV, then struck a teenage girl who was standing in the parking lot.
After hitting the teen, authorities said Borelli continued through the parkng lot and struck a parked Nissan SUV. Borelli then got out of the car and laid down on the sidewalk.
When Chelsea police arrived on the scene, they said they immediately gave the injured teen life-saving medical attention until they were transported to a Boston hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Ceserino Borelli was arrested and charged with multiple motor vehicle offenses. He was transported to a Boston hospital after complaining of back pain, where he remains under police supervision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Chelsea Police Department and Massachusetts State Police.
