17 total dorm rooms flooded at Brown, 35 students displaced
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Flooding from Monday’s storm displaced over 30 students at Brown University.
Brian Clark, a spokesmen for the university, told ABC 6 News that a total of 17 dorm rooms were flooded on the ground floor of Archibald Bronson Hall, leaving 35 students without a place to sleep.
Brown’s residential staff worked with the displaced students to find a place for them to stay. Some stayed with friends and family, while others stayed in temporary rooms on campus.
Clark added that the water has been removed from the dorms. The spaces inside as well as the furniture are being dehumidified.
“We expect to have a clear timeline for completion of that work by later today, and we’ll offer all affected students temporary housing for the duration of work, if that’s necessary before they can return to rooms,” wrote Clark.
The damage from the flooding was mainly to the floors. Any wet items that belonged to student will be cleaned by a contractor.
