A 17-year-old is now facing a felony charge after a fight in South Kingstown that left a 39-year-old man seriously injured.
Sean Murphy is still in the hospital, suffering from a brain injury after he says he and his friend, 29-year-old Brian Watson, were jumped by a group of teens and young adults while walking home from a bar earlier this month.
According to police, the 17-year-old punched the 39-year-old, landing him in the hospital.
Watson was also hit trying to protect his friend. He spoke to ABC6 News after the attack and said he tried to shield Murphy from the blows, but then he was kicked and had his glasses knocked off his face.
He says Murphy had a broken nose, cracked cheekbone and was put in a coma because he had swelling of the brain.
Police say they’ve dealt with the juvenile before. He’s being held at the training school until his hearing.
Police say more arrests are expected.
