18-year-old charged in shooting of Easton teenager

TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of a 16-year-old female in Easton on January 14, according to the office of the Bristol County District Attorney.

Anthony Lopes, 18, of Brockton, was arrested Monday by Easton police on charges of assault and battery by discharging a firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a high-capacity firearm and armed robbery.

Lopes was arrested by Massachusetts State Police for possession of a firearm on January 15.

Police believed at that time that he was connected to the Easton incident, which left the victim with “severe, life-threatening injuries” after she was shot in the face.

The victim remains in serious but stable condition in a Boston-area hospital, according to Easton police.

Lopes will be arraigned Monday afternoon at Taunton District Court.
