EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Democratic hopefuls for Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District seat are participating in a forum ahead of next month’s primary special election.

The forum will take place at the Weaver Library in East Providence.

The candidates will be asked a series of questions on a number of issues including foreign policy, Ukraine, and U.S. security.

Last week, the Rhode Island Black Lives Matter PAC and Rhode Island Black Business Association held a debate at the Providence Public Library.

Eight of the 12 Democrats on the ballot were there to discuss critical issues for voters in District 1 and their plans for promoting racial justice and economic development.

The primary election is on Tuesday, September 5. The general election is on November 7.
