WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WLNE) — Two people including a child are dead after a car accident in Woonsocket Wednesday evening.
Police say the driver was on drugs.
ABC6 News talked to a detective from the Woonsocket Police Department and he said they are waiting for a report to find out exactly what the driver was on, but they do believe he was on drugs when he crashed.
59-year-old Michael Beaucage of Central Falls was driving on Mendon Road with three passengers. Two of them were young children.
That is when he crashed into a pole that send all four people in the car to the hospital.
His longtime girlfriend, 59-year-old Marsha Crowley and her 13-year-old grandson both died as a result of the crash.
Beaucage is now charged with two counts of driving to endanger death resulting, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
He was held on $30,000 bail with surety.
ABC6 News talked to his daughter outside of court, but she did not want to go on camera. However, she told ABC6 that “he doesn’t deserve to be bailed out.”
I’m told police suspect Beaucage was under the influence of narcotics. His daughter tells me he has a history of drug use @ABC6
