2 men charged in Woonsocket fatal stabbing face judge

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two men arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Woonsocket on Saturday will be held without bail.

24-year-old Ibrahim Sylla and 24-year-old Jacob Lopez Diaz were both arrested Sunday night in connection to the death of Christopher Penado on Dec. 7.

Both men were charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy, first-degree robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Police responded to the Elks Lodge parking lot on Social Street around 6 p.m. Saturday for several people fighting.

When they arrived officers found 32-year-old Christopher Penado suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He was transported to Landmark Hospital and pronounced deceased from his injuries.

Both men did not enter a plea, and will have a status conference on Dec. 16.
