SOMERSWORTH, N.H. (WLNE) — New Hampshire State Police said two missing children have been found safe in Maine Friday.

Police issued an Amber Alert earlier in the day for Alaina Wilson, 11, and Chance Wilson, 8, who were reported missing just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

The two children were last seen at their their grandmother’s home in Somersworth. Police believe their biological mother, Kaileigh Nichols, took them from that home.

Nichols does not have custody of the children and suffers from drug addiction, as well as mental health issues, police said.

Investigators said the children may have been taken out of the home through a window.

Nichols was last seen driving a gray 2009 Honda Civic with Maine license plates — 28278.
