2 plead no contest in Newport wedding brawl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Two people involved in September’s wedding brawl in Newport pled no contest to the charges they were facing.
According to the Rhode Island Judiciary Public Portal, Olivia Costello pled no contest to four misdemeanor charges.
She was ordered to community service and to pay court costs for two of the charges.
Kylie Swain, meanwhile, pled no contest to charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct, and was also ordered to community service.
The two were involved with a physical altercation with police outside of the Landing Restaurant.
Body-worn camera footage from the incident showed a group of people surrounding officers outside a wedding party.
The confrontation began when one of the people involved was not allowed back into the restaurant after allegedly pushing staff. Police were called when he refused to leave.
A group started to form between him and the responding officer, who ultimately called for backup.
The incident then turned physical, and the group and the officers were seen pushing each other before it escalated to punches.
Later on in the video, as the crowd got larger, two officers claimed one of the people reached for their guns. That’s when one of the officers throws a woman to the ground, seeming to knock her unconscious.
