PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE): Providence Police arrested two people during what was supposed to be a rally to defend the police department on Thursday evening.

The “Back the Blue” rally, which  was supposed to take place outside the Providence Safety Complex, was postponed because of weather.

However, that didn’t stop people from showing up. Around 20 protestors with “Back the Blue” and about 50 counter protestors from “Black Lives Matter” went anyway.

Najeli Rodriguez, a 18-year-old woman, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, according to Providence Police Commander Thomas Verdi.

Jones Pierre, a 28-year-old man, was arrested and charged with disorderly, resisting arrest, possession of a prohibited weapon (knife), and simple assault.
