PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Attorney General Peter Neronha said that two men were charged with possession of a stolen gun and other gun-related offenses after their February arrest.

Jaden Brown of Providence and Hassan Almarawi of Pawtucket were each charged with one count of transporting a firearm without a license and one count of conspiracy to carry a firearm without a license.

23-year-old Brown was also charged with one count of possession of a stolen firearm.

Neronha said that both men were stopped by a state trooper early in the morning on Feb. 10 after the trooper he said he saw them speeding and the passenger, 25-year-old Almarawi, reaching for something on the floor of the car.

The trooper asked both men if there was anything in the car, which they both denied.

Neronha said that a search of the vehicle allegedly found a Glock 27, .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a laser attachment mounted on it containing a 10 round magazine.

A later search of the National Crime Information Center discovered the gun was was reported stolen by the Holbrook Police Department in Massachusetts.
