28-year-old New Bedford man killed in Assonet crash Sunday

ASSONET, Mass. (WLNE) — A 28-year-old man was killed on Sunday after he was ejected from his vehicle following a serious crash.
Edmumnd Arsenault, Jr., of New Bedford died after he was involved in an accident on Copicut Road near the intersection of Bell Rock Road in Assonet.
According to officials, Freetown Police responded to a call for a single-vehicle crash at 11:30 p.m.
First responders arrived to find a 1997 Jeep Wrangler that had crashed into the wood line.
Outside the vehicle, they located a 29-year-old male passenger who was seriously injured.
They found Arsenault, the driver, unresponsive.
Freetown Fire-Rescue transported him to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Freetown Police Department, Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
