$3 Bar beating death suspect pleads not guilty

The Providence man charged with beating and killing a car dealer with a 2×4 has plead not guilty.

Daniel Lastarza appeared in Superior Court Wednesday and plead not guilty to murder and felony assault charges. He remains held without bail at the ACI.

He is accused of beating Jonathan Stack outside of the $3 Bar on Atwells Ave. last July.

Lastarza allegedly attacked Stack and another man with the board. Stack later died from his injuries.

The bar lost its license after police said staff did not break up the fight or call police.

Lastarza has been held without bail since October.
