3 juveniles arrested during melee in Pawtucket

Three juveniles were arrested in Pawtucket Monday night after police officers were pelted with bottles and rocks as they tried to break up a crowd of almost 100 people.

Police say they received the call to the area of Jenks Junior High School around 9:40 p.m., just after the fireworks display at McCoy Stadium for several reports of groups fighting.

Officer’s arrived and found around 75-100 people in several large groups. One officer was struck in the chest with a rock but was not significantly injured. A police vehicle also had its rear window smashed and some dents from bottles thrown at it.

Police arrested two male juveniles and a juvenile female.

One male, 17-years-old, was charged with 2 counts of assault on a police officer, Resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.  He was ordered held overnight at the RI Training School. 

The second male, 15-years-old, was charged with throwing objects at a police vehicle, disorderly conduct, vandalism, and obstructing a police officer. This male was released to family. 

The 15-year-old female was charged with disorderly conduct.
