3 people injured after large tree falls in Warwick

Three people were taken to the hospital after a massive tree limb crashed down on stopped cars at a traffic light in Warwick.
We are told those injuries are minor.
It happened around 3:30 Monday afternoon near the intersection of Main Avenue and West Shore Rd. in Warwick.
"It's a little surreal but I feel lucky I feel happy I feel healthy,” said Dominic Murgo.
He was driving one of three cars heavily damaged when the portion of the tree fell.
"I was here at the red light and then suddenly ba–boom down comes a tree right on the top of my car, right on top of the car in front of me and I didn't really know what happened,” said Murgo.
Murgo along with several other was trapped in his car about a half an hour.
The huge limb took down a live power line making it unsafe for people to leave their cars until it was disconnected.
As soon as that was the case, rescue crews helped get those trapped to safety.
"It was a systematical process to remove two of the women that were in one vehicle that had a tree limb right over the top of their doors. We got them out first and then we worked with the tree crews to remove the remaining victims,” said Assistant Warwick Fire Chief Bruce Cooley.
A portion of the road was blocked off for hours as crews cleaned up the debris the tree left behind…
Neighbors saying the whole situation is quite unnerving.
"It's just unbelievable that's about all I can say,” said Tom Rooney.
As to what caused the branch to fall on a nice… not so windy… summer day….
"The tree warden is looking at the tree now. It appears to be a fatigued tree. We don't know if it sustained some damage in the last storm. It could have but the tree warden is looking into that right now,” said Picozzi.
