4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes the Northeast

At 10:23 AM this morning, a 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake rattled the Northeast, Depth 3 miles, 9 miles SE Bridgewater, and 10 miles SSE Barking Ridge.   Today’s earthquake occurred near the Ramapo Fault Line, it’s 70 miles long and it goes from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and into New York.  One of the largest fault lines in the Northeast and it’s been quiet for a couple of 100 years. The strongest earthquake along the Ramapo Fault Line was a 5.2 back in 1884.

At the time of this writing, no aftershocks have been reported by the USGS.
