4 new deaths and 285 new cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday as hospitalizations drop

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – It may be Mother’s Day, but the coronavirus is still among us.
Sunday, the RIDOH reported an additional 285 new positive cases and 4 new fatalities.
The state has seen a total of 11,274 positive cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic hit the area, and a total of 422 lives have been lost as a result to the virus.
Currently there are 283 people in the hospital, 70 in an intensive care unit and 52 on a ventilator.
91,213 tests have been performed in Rhode Island, with 79,939 tests returned being negative.
Governor Raimondo and Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott shared a special Mother’s Day message on Sunday.
The governor’s daily press briefings will be held this week, Monday through Friday at 1:00 p.m.
